The Apple Federal Credit Union is currently running a special certificate of deposit offer which gives 5.00% APY for a 5-month term. This is exclusive to their office in Falls Church Branch.

The top cd rates being offered in the special is not featured on their website. We just received a tip from a local and verified it by calling the Apple FCU branch. According to the customer service representative, the current cd promo rates will last until September 6. The deal practically translates to $37 more from a $3000 deposit against a 2% regular deal from other institutions.

The credit union also offers several competitive cd rates like their 5-year CD which gives 3.70% APY for a $50K deposit. The early withdrawal penalty for this 60-month certificate of deposit is 6 months of interest.

Apple FCU also has a 10-year CD yielding 4.00% APY but with an 84-month penalty for early withdrawal of funds. This only requires an initial deposit of $500.

The rates posted on their website may change any time without notice. It will be best to browse for the latest figures before signing up for any thing.

The membership to the credit union is open for the folks of the NVADACA or Northern Virginia Athletic Directors, Administrators, and Coaches Association. NVADACA has an open charter of membership so anyone can sign up for a fee of $20. Apple FCU requires a $5 deposit to a regular savings account.

The credit union does a soft pull on your credit. A CSR confirmed that they do this through Equifax but denied of a hard credit inquiry being done.

The credit union is headquartered in Fairfax, Virginia and has offices in Falls Church, Centreville, Manassas, Herndon, Winchester, Stafford, Springfield, Alexandria, Woodbridge, and in Washington, DC.
